50 Best Online Masters of Engineering Management

Contents

Recipients of a Masters of Engineering Management understand that Engineering is a critical field of study with a vast array of manifestations in terms of disciplines, career options and opportunities.  Whether studying electrical engineering, civil or mechanical engineering, the related trades offer many opportunities to use skills for the betterment of national infrastructure, manufacturing and construction areas, to name but a few.  Management within engineering is a vital component to ensure that projects stay on track and progress is steady.

Managers are the decision-makers within a business or project.  Engineering managers are involved with such tasks as new product review and analysis, coordination of various teams within the organization, direction of maintenance, production and quality assurance as well as oversight of equipment, machinery, product and system designs.  Career disciplines include automation, chemical, client services, construction, design, hardware, firmware, IT, cost, process, structural and technology.

A candidate with an engineering background and an aptitude for problem-solving would benefit from a Master’s of Engineering Management (MSM) and they can bridge the gap between management and technical disciplines.  A graduate with a Master’s of Engineering Management (MSM) can speak both ‘languages’ within an organization and demonstrate their value to the company as a whole. Specific duties typically include (but are not limited to) team leadership, interaction with corporate stakeholders, interaction with business and accounting executives and technical creators to provide the “oil that helps the corporate machine run smoothly.”
